Get Gmail to Resume Pop Access with Captcha Unlock
|
| |
ISSUE
|
| |
| If you're using Gmail or Google hosted email you might run into a situation where you can login and read your email
via Google's web interface, but when you try retrieving your email via POP you get a password error. |
| |
REASON
|
| |
| Apparently, Gmail wants you to verify the host system using a username, password and captcha login. The error message
gives you no clue as to this problem. In order to fix this problem you must go to a special URL, enter your username,
password and captcha, and things will magically work again. |

SOLUTION
|
| |
- For Gmail users:
- Disable all mail clients you're using to read Gmail messages. (If you use one at work and one at home, please
disable both.)
- From the computer on which your logins are failing, visit http://www.google.com/accounts/DisplayUnlockCaptcha
- Enter your Gmail username and password, and the letters in the distorted picture.
- Once you have successfully logged in, restart your mail client and try to download your mail.
- For hosted email users:
- Disable all mail clients you're using to read Gmail messages. (If you use one at work and one at home, please
disable both.)
- From the computer on which your logins are failing, visit https://www.google.com/a/[your
domain].com/UnlockCaptcha. Replace '[your domain]' with the actual hosted domain.
- Enter your email username and password, and the letters in the distorted picture.
- Once you have successfully logged in, restart your mail client and try to download your mail.
